Publishing Grant

Spring 2025— SEAC will award approximately five grants of up to $1,000 each to support faculty publishing related to Southeast Asia and Southeast Asians, including in the diaspora.

Expenses covered may include, for instance, in-person or hybrid book, article, or book-proposal workshops; translation costs; publishing subventions; or open-access fees.

Recipients must be faculty, tenure-track or otherwise, or affiliated researchers at a SUNY or CUNY institution at the time of the publication-related work in question. Funds should be expended by the end of Summer 2024 (though extensions may be possible).

Selection will be by a panel of SUNY and CUNY faculty.

To apply for a publishing grant, submit the following:

  • Proposal (1-3 pages), including the current status of the project in question and how this award will help with publication. If your project’s relevance to Southeast Asia is not obvious, be sure to clarify

  • Budget, explaining any non-obvious expenses

  • List other funding for which you have applied (or can access) or will apply for publishing-related expenses (not including research-only grants along the way)

  • Identify any previous SEAC grants

  •  Current CV

Application deadline: Friday, March 28, 2025. Awardees will be notified by the end of the first week of April.

Please be advised that grant disbursement may be on a reimbursement basis, requiring receipts.
